The Odd Fellows Building was built in the early 1900s as a temple for the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a fraternal order. the driving force behind the buildings development was Elmer Nordstrom, founder of the famed Nordstrom's Department Store.
The building originally functioned as a meeting hall and temple for the Odd Fellows and gradually transformed into one of Seattle's premiere venues for the performing arts. Today, Velocity Dance Studio, a nationally renowned troupe, is one of the building's anchor tenants.
In the mid 90's, the Lodge disbanded and sold the property to private owners who meticulously restored the structure to its original splendor. The building continues to be a mecca for the performing arts community of Seattle.
